Lipid Competency Certificate Program

The Lipid Competency Certificate Program offers a competency assessment and credentialing pathway for healthcare professionals or para professionals with an interest or involvement in field of dyslipidemia. There is no specific licensure to work experience required to apply for the program.

The LCC is ideal for those who wish to demonstrate a core competency in lipid management through assessing their knowledge of Clinical Lipidology to receive recognition from the ACCL.

To qualify to sit for the exam, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Applicants must have earned a minimum of 10 continuing education credit hours in Clinical Lipidology, from a US or Canadian-based accrediting body, in the previous two calendar years. Applicants can satisfy the CE requirements by completing any CE/CME accredited courses focused on lipid management or CVD prevention, or any of the following National Lipid Association educational activities:


Exam Information

The LCC examination was created at the intermediate level of difficulty and consists of approximately 70 multiple choice questions. The two-hour LCC examination is offered worldwide via Online Proctoring provided by the testing provider, Webassessor. Click here for more information regarding Online Proctoring

Applying for the LCC Exam

To apply please click here. There is no application deadline. Please submit your application at least 3–4 weeks before you plan to sit for the examination. Once you submit your application please allow up to 2 weeks for processing. Upon approval of your application, you will receive an email providing instructions regarding selecting your exam date and time.
